This page collects our Windows 11 guides in one place: a laptop that has slowed to a crawl, a repair install that sits at 99% for an hour, or Outlook that suddenly stops showing new mail. Each guide starts with a short answer, then works through the fixes in order, from the quick and safe ones to the steps that take longer or touch your files.
Steps are checked against Microsoft Support and, where it matters, the PC maker’s own help pages, and every guide links those pages so you can confirm a step yourself. Windows 11 gets a feature update every year and smaller updates every month, so menus do move. Each guide shows its “Last updated” date, and if a setting isn’t where we say it is, please tell us.
Before you try any fix
- Check which version you have. Go to Settings > System > About and look under Windows specifications. Our guides name the version their steps were checked against, such as 25H2.
- Back up anything you can’t lose. Most fixes here are harmless, but a repair install or a reset is not the moment to discover your documents only lived on that one drive.
- Restart properly. Use Start > Power > Restart rather than just closing the lid. Our slow-laptop guide explains why a proper restart is step one.
- Look at Windows Update. Open Settings > Windows Update. A pending restart or a stuck download explains a lot of odd behaviour.
- Skip the “PC cleaner” apps. Windows already has Storage Sense, Task Manager and Windows Security built in. Our guides use those instead of third-party tools.
